Kajsa Ekis Ekman was awarded the 2020 Lenin Award with the following justification:
“In her journalism, essayism and cultural criticism, Kajsa Ekis Ekman is the warrior without privileges who, with crystal clear intellectual acuity and extreme integrity, sees the complexity of the world but still always takes a stand. To understand the world and with her sharply dissecting pen take it further and try to make it a slightly better place to live in has urged this idea-driven writer to constantly address the most difficult and uncomfortable issues of the time with material analyses on solid empirical scientific grounds and yet never write a line without an explicit case. As a relentlessly independent socialist and feminist with the entire world as her field of work, she has in Swedish publicity and without belonging to any coterie, possible to cancel but never to expose, reached a position that nonetheless forces everyone to listen.”
