Sápmi Sisters were awarded the 2016 Robespierre Prize with the following justification:
“For their enthusiastic, persistent and hard-hitting struggle for oppressed minorities against the economic interests that threaten their livelihoods and freedom to choose their own way of life. They create their protest with inspiration from popular traditions, as widely different as Jojk and African folk music, to a personal and true popular art form.”
